Registered Nurse Entry pathway

The Registered Nurse Entry pathway is for students who have current nurse registration in Australia or overseas. The course requires one year of full-time study or the equivalent part-time in the internal mode only.

Applicants must provide documentary evidence of eligibility for registration (for example, a practising certificate) with a nurses’ registration authority in the country in which they originally registered. Professional experience placements are arranged for international students seeking registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Course aims

The aim of the Bachelor of Nursing is to prepare comprehensive nurses who are reflective about their practice, have well-developed clinical reasoning skills and can confidently engage in nursing practice in a variety of environments/contexts, and to provide students with the learning opportunities they need to meet the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) Registered Nurse
Accreditation Standards (2012) and achieve the Flinders University graduate qualities.

Learning outcomes

Graduates of the course are expected to be able to:

  • meet the requirements for registration as general nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • deliver nursing care as safe and therapeutic practitioners based on justifiable decisions derived from clinical reasoning and the best available evidence, taking account of the broader contexts of health and health care
  • base their nursing practice on a holistic understanding of a person’s health status within their social context
  • practise with an understanding of knowledge from supporting psychosocial and science disciplines
  • critically reflect on their practice
  • apply the principles and processes of nursing inquiry
  • engage in research activities that promote and improve nursing practice and the profession
  • adapt their nursing practice to the requirements of any situation, individual or group
  • function as effective members of healthcare teams
  • apply the University graduate qualities to their professional lives.

Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration)

This course rule must be read in conjunction with the Bachelor of Nursing course rule.

Bachelor of Nursing (Registered Nurse Entry pathway) 

Program of study

To qualify for the Bachelor of Nursing (Registered Nurse Entry), a student must complete 108 units with a grade of Pass or NGP or better in each topic.

Except with permission of the Faculty Board this pathway must be completed within four consecutive semesters.

A student who fails the professional experience placement component of any topic will receive a Fail grade for that topic. A student may at any time be removed from a professional experience placement for unprofessional behaviour and/or unsafe practice.

Students in this pathway receive 72 units of credit for current nursing registration and prior learning qualifications and undertake the following program

(Note: PEP refers to professional experience placement.)

Core – Year 1 topics

36 units comprising:

NURS1001 Introduction to the Nursing Profession and Independent Learning (4.5 units)
NURS2003 Pathophysiology and Pharmacology (4.5 units)
NURS2006 Clinical Governance and Practice Improvement (4.5 units)
NURS2007 Integrating Theory and Practice (4.5 units)
NURS3002 Advanced Decision-Making and Practice (PEP) (9 units)
NURS3005 Transition to Professional Practice 2 (9 units)

Honours

A student who has completed all the requirements of the Bachelor of Nursing degree, or a qualification which the Faculty Board agrees is equivalent, may be accepted as a candidate for the honours degree providing they have achieved a credit average or better in fulfilling the requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

To qualify for the honours degree, a student must complete satisfactorily 36 units of study within one year full-time or two years part-time.

การจะทำอะไรซักอย่าง แล้วมีการวางแผนดีๆ รู้ลู่ทางทุกอย่าง ทำอะไรก็จะประสบความสำเร็จ ผู้เขียนได้พูดคุยกับพยาบาลไทยหลายๆคน ทั้งรุ่นพี่ รุ่นเพื่อน และรุ่นน้อง เกือบทุกคนก็มีเหตุผลคนล่ะอย่างสองอย่างที่ทำให้ทำไม่ได้ เหตุผลที่สำคัญก็คือเื่รื่องภาษา รองลงมาคือเรื่องทุนทรัพย์ แต่สำหรับผู้เขียนที่พบเห็นมา มีเหตุผลที่สำคัญเพิ่มขึ้นอีกสองอย่างคือ เรื่องความเชื่อมั่นในตัวเอง และ การมองโลกในแง่บวก ผู้เขียนคิดว่าถ้าเราคิดดี ทำดี และมุ่งมั่นในทางดี ทำอะไรก็ประสบความสำเร็จ
ขั้นตอนง่ายๆในการเตรียมความพร้อม

เริ่มทำงานก็เริ่มเก็บเงินทันที ใช้น้อย พอแค่จำเป็น และหาพิเศษเพิ่ม
เรียนภาษาอังกฤษ แล้วสอบไอแอลสให้ได้คะแนนผ่านเกณฑ์
ช่วงที่เรียนภาษาก็มองหาที่เรียนไปด้วย หาอ่านภาษาอังกฤษตามเวบต่างๆฝึกใช้อินเตอร์เนต และพิมพ์ดีดให้คล่อง
ศึกษาข้อมูลด้านต่างๆของประเทศที่จะไปอยู่และทำงาน
วางแผนการต่างๆไว้แต่เนิ่นๆ และ ติดต่อมหาวิทยาลัยไว้แต่เนิ่นๆ ถ้าพลาดการลงทะเบียนในต้นเทอม แล้วอาจจะต้องรอเป็นปี
เมื่อเดินทางถึงประเทศที่จะเรียนแล้วก็พยายามปรับตัวเข้ากับสิ่งแวดล้อมใหม่
ทำตัวตามสบาย อย่ากดดันตัวเองมาก เพราะถ้าเครียดมากๆแล้วจะทำให้เรียนไม่รู้เรื่อง
เอาเรียนเป็นหลักก่อน เรื่องหางานทำระหว่างเรียนถ้าไม่มีความจำเป็นเรื่องเงินเป็นอย่างมากแล้ว ควรจะเอาเรียนก่อน เพราะถ้าสอบตกแล้วเงินที่หาได้มาไม่คุ้มกับความล้มเหลวที่ได้รับ
พยายามตั้งใจเรียนและเป็นมิตรกับเพื่อนร่วมชั้นทุกคน เพราะเพื่อนเราเขาก็มีเป้าประสงค์ที่มาเรียนเหมือนกันทั้งหมด พยายามช่วยเหลือกันให้สอบผ่านกันทั้งหมด
ไม่ต้องกลัวว่าจะไม่เก่งที่สุดในชั้น เพราะว่าทุกคนในชั้นก็เป็นคนเก่งกันทั้งนั้นแหละ เรียนระดับนี้แล้วเขาไม่เรียนเอาลำดับกันหรอก เขาเรียนเอาความรู้ และวิจารณญาน เพื่อนำไปใช้งานให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด และ อีกอย่างเวลาไปสมัครงานที่นี่ผู้เขียนก็ไม่เคยถูกขอให้แสดงใบแจ้งผลการเรียน เขาดูบุคลิกภาพ ความสามารถในการตอบคำถาม และไหวพริบในการแก้ป้ญหา

ระเบียบข้อบังคับใหม่สำหรับพยาบาลจากต่างประเทศที่ต้องการทำงานที่ออสเตรเลีย
ทางสภาการพยาบาลแห่งออสเตรเลียได้ออกกฏระเบียบใหม่แก้ไขเพิ่มเติมซึ่งมีผลบังคับใช้ตั้งแต่วันที่ ๅ มีนาคม ๒๕๕๒ มีดังนี้
สำหรับพยาบาลที่มาจากต่างประเทศที่ต้องการประกอบวิชาชีพพยาบาลที่ออสเตรเลียต้องผ่านการสอบมาตรฐานภาษาอังกฤษสากลInternational English Language Testing System คะแนนรวมไม่ต่ำกว่า 7และทุกหมวดต้องได้ 7 หรือสอบผ่านภาษาอังกฤษสำหรับวิชาชีพคะแนนได้(Occupational English Testing) Bขึ้นจากการสอบในครั้งเดียวกัน โดยมีผลบังคับใช้ต่อพยาบาลทุกคนที่จบการศึกษาจากต่างประเทศไม่ว่าจะมาจากประเทศที่ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษามาตรฐานกลางของชาติก็ตาม

    Australian Registered Nurse Training Program (ARNTP)
    Information for Overseas Educated Nurses

    The School of Nursing & Midwifery offers a 24 week non-award professional certificate for overseas educated nurses. This program is approved by the Nurses Board of South Australia (nbsa). On successful completion of all program requirements ARNTP graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the nbsa and practice as a registered nurse in the Australian Health System.

    Entry Requirements:

    Certified evidence of being a registered nurse in country of practice.
    3 year diploma or 4 year degree in nursing equivalent to the standard of registered nurse preparation in Australia.
    Evidence of English proficiency at IELTS overall 6.5 (Academic) with a minimum of 6 for each band (reading, writing, speaking and listening) or OET minimum of B in reading; writing; speaking and listening.
    Recent practice as a registered nurse (within the last 2 years) evidenced by a certified employment statement dated in the last 6-12 months.

    Important Updates:

    The May 2009 intake is opened for applications. Please Note: There will not be an intake in October 2009.
    The program timetable for May 2009 intake is listed below.
    Nurses from non-English speaking backgrounds are expected to have an IELTS 7 or equivalent score to register with the Nurses Board of South Australia. The English language exam, around week 15 of the program, will be an OET (Nursing Version) to test that students are at this level. Students must achieve a B pass in each subscore (i.e. speaking, listening, writing and reading). The ARNTP tuition fee will cover the cost of OET preparation classes and the OET test. Students who need to resit any component of the OET test will need to pay for further tests prior to registration.
    Please Note:

    The tuition fee for international students in 2009 is AUD$12,000 plus overseas health cover.

    การประกอบอาชีพไม่ว่าจะเป็นอาชีพไหน เพื่อการหาเลี้ยงชีพด้วยความสุจริตล้วนแล้วแต่ต้องใช้ความมานะพยายาม และความอดทนเป็นอย่างมากไม่ว่าจะดำรงชีวิตอยู่ในสังคมแบบไหน การทำงานในเวลาที่ปกติของอาชีพทั่วไปหลายอาชีพอาจมีความลำบากในการดำรงชีวิตไม่มากเท่ากับการเป็นพยาบาล

     

    ตัวผู้เขียนเองเป็น คนไทยโดยกำเนิด เคยเป็นพยาบาลไทย และขณะนี้เป็นพยาบาลที่ทำงานที่ต่างประเทศ เป็นทั้งแม่บ้าน ทั้ง ภรรยา และแม่ของลูกๆ อาชีพพยาบาลที่เมืองไทยผู้เขียนเป็นอยู่สิบปี ไม่มีทางเลือกมาก ต้องขึ้นเวรตามที่เขาจัดตารางเวรให้ ตอนนั้นก็ไม่รู้สึกลำบากอะไรมาก เพราะที่เมืองไทยขอให้มีงานทำก็ถือเป็นบุญแล้ว และไม่มีความรู้อะไรมากก็แค่อ่านภาษาไทยออก และเขียนได้ก้รู้สึกว่าโลกของตัวเองกว้างพอแล้ว จนเมื่อได้เรียนและรู้ภาษาอังกฤษเพิ่มขึ้นทำให้โลกทัศน์กว้างขึ้นมาอีกนิด ใจจริงอยากเรียนรู้ภาษาอื่นให้มากกว่านี้ แต่มาคิดดูแล้วถ้ามัวแต่เรียนก็คงไม่มีเวลาทำอะไรที่อยากทำอีกเยอะแยะมากมายกับครอบครัว ก็เลยเรียนไปพักไป

     

    การเป็นพยาบาลที่เมืองนอก คือที่ประเทศออสเตรเลีย มีความยืดหยุ่นหลายอย่าง สามารถที่จะเลือกเวรได้ สามารถที่จะเลือกวันทำงานได้ ถ้าไม่พอใจระบบงานของโรงพยาบาลก็ลาออกไปทำโรงพยาบาลใหม่ ไม่ว่าทำกับโรงพยาบาลไหน หรือบริษัทไหนสวัสดิการก็เหมือนกันหมด มีเงินบำนาญกินเมือแก่เหมือนกัน หรือแม้แต่คนที่ไม่ได้ทำงานเมื่อยังหนุ่มแก่มาก็มีบำนาญเลี้ยงชีพแต่อาจะได้น้อยกว่าคนทำงาน แต่ก็เพียงพอแก่การดำรงชีพ

     

    เป็นพยาบาล และเป็นแม่บ้าน การทำงานที่มีความยืดหยุ่นสามารถทำให้การบริหารครอบครัวราบรื่น ถ้าลูกยังเล็กก็ไม่ต้องส่งลูกไปที่ศูนย์เลี้ยงเด็ก ซึ่งทำให้มีโอกาสเลี้ยงลูกเอง ประหยัดเงินอีกต่างหาก ถ้าอยากหาเงินให้ได้เยอะก็ทำกะ กลางคืน หรือ ทำเสาร์อาทิตย์ ถ้าทำแค่เสาร์อาทิตย์รายได้ก็จะเท่าคนทำจันทน์ถึงศุกร์ รายได้ก็แล้วแต่จะเลือก ทำน้อยก็ได้น้อย ทำมากก็ได้มาก

     

    การทำงานร่วมกับแพทย์ เพราะผู้เขียนทำอยู่ที่ไอซียู เลือกทำที่นี่เอง ทำมากว่า 14 ปีแล้ว ไม่ชอบทำตามตึกทั่วไป ไม่ชอบทำงานประจำซ้ำซาก ชอบงานที่ท้าทายเร่งด่วนทุกวันจึงเลือกที่ไอซียู หมอๆที่เคยร่วมงานกันก็น่ารัก นิสัยดีๆทั้งนั้น ทั้งที่เมืองไทย และ ที่ออสเตรเลีย อาจจะโชคดีที่ำเป็นคนไม่ชอบติเตียนใคร และไม่มากเรื่องเลยไม่ค่อยมีปัญหากับเพื่อนร่วมงาน ถ้าเพื่อนร่วมงานคนไหนเป็นคนเจ้าปัญหาก็พยายามไม่เข้าไปยุ่งเกี่ยว ถ้ามีปัญหาเกินแก้ด้วยตัวเองก็รายงานให้หัวหน้าไป ถือว่าเป็นหน้าที่ของเขาที่ต้องทำ ไม่นินทาเพื่อนร่วมงานด้วย ถ้าถูกถามก็บอกว่าเป็นอย่างที่คุณเห็นนั่นแหละ ส่วนมากถ้ามีปัญหาที่ทำงานก็มักจะเป็นเพราะระบบบริหารงาน หรือเรื่องอัตรากำลังมากกว่า ที่ออสเตรเลียขาดพยาบาลเป็นอย่างมาก จริงๆทุกที่มีปัญหาเรื่องอัตรากำลังทั้งนั้นรวมถึงประเทศไทย  แต่ที่หนักหนามากเกิดขึ้นกับผู้เขียนเองซึ่งเท่าที่สอบถามจากเพื่อนร่วมงานที่ทำงานกับโรงพยาบาลมาหลายสิบปีเขาก็บอกไม่เคยมีเหตุการณ์แบบนี้เกิดขึ้น คือวันหนึ่งมีพยาบาลลาป่วย ซึ่งเขาแจ้งลาป่วยติดต่อกันมา 4-5 วันแล้ว โดยโทรมาแจ้งเป็นรายวัน เรามีความรู้สึกว่าเขาต้องลาป่วยอีกแน่เวรดึกคืนนี้ ก่อนลงเวรเราเลยบอกหัวหน้าเวรให้แจ้งหัวหน้าเวรตรวจการอีกทีหนึ่ง เขาก็ทำ เวรดึกต่อมาเราก็ไปขึ้นเวร โดยพบว่ามีเราคนเดียวที่เป็นพยาบาลอาวุโส(อาวุโสที่ออสเตรเลียแค่3 ปี และจบเฉพาะทาง)นอกนั้นเป็นพยาบาลจบใหม่ 1-4 ปีไม่มีประกาศนียบัตรเฉพาะทาง เราเลยต้องรับเป็นทั้งหัวหน้าเวร และ หัวหน้าทีมฉุกเฉินอย่างไม่มีทางเลือก ทางโรงพยาบาลได้พยายามตามพยาบาลคนอื่นๆที่ไม่ได้ขึ้นเวรให้มาทำงานโดยจ่ายค่าแรงสองเท่าครึ่ง ทุกคนปฏิเสธ แม้แต่จากเอเจนซีก็หาไม่ได้ ผู้เขียนเลยต้องทำงาน12 ชั่วโมงโดยไม่มีเวลาหยุด ตอนหิวก็ต้องเอาอาหารมานั่งทานที่โตีะทำงาน แต่ก็ดีโรงพยาบาลก็จ่ายค่าเวลาพักให้ โชคดีคืนนั้นไม่ยุ่งมาก แผนที่วางไว้กรณีที่มีคนไข้จะรับเข้าไอซียูคือ ห้ามรับคนไข้จากอุบัติเหตุฉุกเฉิน ให้ส่งคนไข้ไปที่โรงพยาบาลอื่น หรือถ้าจำเป็นต้องรับให้ตามหวัหน้าตึกมาขึ้นเวรทันที รับได้เฉพาะคนไข้ฉุกเฉินตามตึกในโรงพยาบาลเท่านั้น เราเลยพูดกับหมอว่าถ้าต้องรับคนไข้จริงๆหมอต้องทำหน้าที่ทั้งเป็นหมอและพยาบาลดูแลคนไข้ใหม่ ปกติไอซียูมีหมออยู่เวร3 คน น้องใหม่ หมออาวุโส และ หมอเฉพาะทางไอซียูซึ่งนอนเวรที่บ้านจะมาเฉพาะเวลามีคนไข้เร่งด่วนที่มีปัญหาสำคัญที่ต้องแก้ไขและตัดสินใจ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

    หนทางการเป็นพยาบาลที่ประเทศออสเตรเลียสำหรับพยาบาลไทย

    บทความนี้ผู้เขียนต้องการเขียนขึ้นเพื่อชี้แนะและเป็นแนวทางสำหรับพยาบาลไทย ที่สนใจและปรารถนาจะมาทำงานที่ประเทศออสเตรเลีย เนื้อหาที่เขียนขึ้นและข้ออ้างอิงต่างๆล้วนแต่เป็นความรู้และข้อมูลที่เป็นปัจจุบันในขณะที่เขียน

    คุณสมบัติของพยาบาลต่างประเทศที่ต้องการทำงานที่ประเทศออสเตรเลีย

    1.  เรียนจบปริญญาตรีพยาบาลศาสตร์ และ/หรือ ผดุงครรภ์
    2. มีใบประกอบวิชาชีพพยาบาลที่ประเทศไทย
    3. ประสบการณ์การทำงานอย่างน้อยสองปี
    4. ผลการสอบภาษาอังกฤษ International English Language Testing System(IELTS) คะแนน 6.5- 7 หรือ ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อวิชาชีพ (Occupational English Test: OET) คะแนน B pass
    5. เรียนหลักสูตรพยาบาลที่ออสเตรเลียเพื่อปรับวุฒิใช้เวลา 6 ถึง 1ปี ขึ้นอยู่กับสถาบันที่เลือก

     

    ขั้นตอนการเตรียมความพร้อม

    1. เรียนภาษาอังกฤษและสอบภาษาอังกฤษให้ได้คะแนนตามที่กำหนดโดยอาจเรียนที่ประเทศไทย หรือต่างประเทศ
    2. ยื่นลงทะเบียนเรียนที่มหาวิทยาลัยที่เปิดสอน จ่ายเงินค่าลงทะเบียน
    3. ทำพาสปอรต์ไทย ใช้เวลาประมาณ3วันทำการ
    4. นำใบเสร็จรับเงินพร้อมเอกสารที่สถานทูตออสเตรเลียกำหนด และกรอกเอกสารขอวีซ่านักเรียนไปยื่นขอวีซ่าที่สถานทูตออสเตรเลียกำหนด
    5. ค่าธรรมเนียมการขอวีซ่าดูได้ที่ http://www.immi.gov.au ค่าธรรมเนียมนี้จะไม่มีคืนให้แม้วีซ่าไม่ผ่าน
    6. ระยะเวลาในการออกวีซ่าจะขึ้นอยู่กับจำนวนคิว และการเตรียมเอกสารให้พร้อม
    7. วีซ่านักเรียนอนุญาตให้ทำงานได้ไม่เกิน 20 ชั่วโมงต่อสัปดาห์ และทำได้ไม่จำกัดชั่วโมงในช่วงปิดภาคเรียน
    8. เมื่อวีซ่าผ่านก็สามารถซื้อตั่วเครื่องบินได้
    9. เตรียมตัวเดินทางเตรียมความพร้อมทางด้านร่างกาย จิตใจ อุปกรณ์การเรียน เงินทุน
    10. อ่านระเบียบของสายการบิน  จัดการเรื่องการเดินทางจากสนามบิน หรือผู้รับส่งจากสนามบิน จัดการเรื่องที่พักอาศัย
